After a disastrous derby day before the international break, Tottenham Hotspur women return to action as they face Man City on Sunday, 2 March 2025 at Brisbane Road. The reverse fixture was one of the low points of the season for Spurs, as crumbled to a 4-0 defeat.
Despite this, boss Robert Vilhalmn was somewhat upbeat talking to reporters ahead of the game. He noted the positive display put on by his side in this fixture last season, although they lost 0-2. His side may well be buoyed by last season’s famous FA Cup semi-final win on penalties too.
One key area Tottenham Hotspur Women need to bulk up at the moment is midfield. Without Eveliina Summanen, they have been totally overpowered, but she is back alongside Drew Spence and Ella Morris. Olivia Holdt, who Vilhalmn revealed scored in a behind closed doors friendly against London City Lionesses during the break, could play a role.
Then, of course, there is the threat of Bunny Shaw, who tends to terrorise any Spurs backline. The reality though is that Spurs have failed against all the big sides so far this season, with the results tending to be worse than before. That doesn’t mean they can’t do better, there are plenty of talented players in the squad. It just means there isn’t much ground for optimism going into the game.
For those who can’t make it to Brisbane road, Tottenham vs Man City Women is going to be free to watch on YouTube in the UK. If you're a Brit abroad, you can use a VPN to watch as if you were at home. I'm a fan of NordVPN. It will also be available via SpursPlay.
