Preview: Tottenham vs Brighton in the WSL on 16 March, 2025

After a run of difficult fixtures, Tottenham vs Brighton Women in the WSL gives the home side a chance of a victory. However, they are going to have to do it without talismanic skipper Bethany England, who has a quad issue. Charlie Grant is also out with a concussion.

A win would matter a lot though. As a somewhat tired looking Spurs boss Robert Vilahamn noted ahead of the game, three points would take his side above their opponents and closer to that best of the rest spot. "I think we have a good chance to compete for the fifth place in the league," he said.

Vilahamn still considers Spurs unlucky to have lost in their last WSL outing against Man City. He said he thought his players pushed higher to good effect in that match and wants "to make sure we are even better" in doing so against Brighton.

Brighton have impressed this season. They go into the game two points ahead of Tottenham after getting a 2-2 draw with still unbeaten Chelsea last time out. Nikita Parris is amongst those performing well, claiming five goals and three assists so far this season. Teammate Kiko Seike has netted the same amount and will be another that the a still vulnerable Spurs defence will have to watch out for.

Hope From Holdt

One player Vilahamn was full of praise for was January arrival Olivia Holdt. Her 95th minute freekick to win the game against Crystal Palace on debut made people take notice. "We have signed a really, really good player and person", said her manager. He believes the midfielder is starting to find the form and fitness she displayed in Sweden.

Martha Thomas was withdrawn early through injury against Man City. However, she has been training on grass and should be find to take part in Tottenham vs Brighton in the WSL. That is hugely important given England's absence.

It ended as draw when these teams mate back in December. Anything less than three points for the home side this time will be considered a major disappointment. The game is live to watch in the UK on YouTube. If you're a Brit abroad, you can use a VPN like NordVPN to watch as if you're back at home.
