Some Thoughts on The Men's Team

A women's mouth screaming against a red background

This site predominantly focuses on Tottenham Hotspur Women, but it's impossible not to comment on the current state of the men's team. Frankly, I need to get it all off my chest!

With barely any fit players left in the squad, the season has entirely gone off the rails. And, as we sit here on January 29, with only a couple of days left in the transfer window, the only activity has been bringing in a goalkeeper and the loan exit of newcomer Yang Min Hyeok.

I've never been one of the "Levy Out" lot. I think the club has developed incredibly in the 30 years I've actively supported it both on and off the pitch. But now is the time for the ownership to step up and back "the project" and that simply is not happening.

Spurs Doing Business

Doing business in January is hard and it's particularly hard when all the other club know you are desperate. However, that is not an excuse for doing nothing. There don't need to be dozens of incomings -  we saw the impact bringing in Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski had under Antonio Conte - but there has to been something.

I've rarely been as angry at Spurs as I was after the Leicester game on Sunday. The defending is shambolic, from the moment Richarlison came off we did not look like scoring and quite why it took until 93 minutes to bring on Will Lankshear is beyond me.

The irony is that with three cup competitions still up for grabs the team could end up having a good season. To do that and to have any semblance of a respectable league campaign, action needs to be taken before the transfer window closes.

Ange in or Out?

Prior to Sunday I was firmly of the belief Ange Postecoglou should stay in position and turn things around himself. After Sunday, I thought losing to Everton and Leicester in a week was a sackable offence. He is not blameless for the injuries either. The same thing happened at Celtic. Most Premier League sides are happy dealing with is tactics too.

Given he has survived to this point, it seems unlikely Postecoglou will be sacked before the summer, so I go back to hoping he can turn it around and build success at Spurs over a number of years. But that brings us back to the above. You have to give him the players to give him a chance of success. The clock is ticking.
